Our Story

About us

We are a husband and wife team, operating out of our home based print studio in normally sunny Southern California. He takes care of the internal stuff and order processing (usually making things WAY more complicated than they need to be), and she takes care of all the actual printing related stuff. It might seem unfair to him, but trust us, it balances out, and we're happy with the arrangement.

How we started

We got our first 3D printer in mid 2022. We wanted something fun to do, and stumbled across 3D printing. After doing a ton of research, we finally took the plunge and got a great deal on an Ender 3 S1. That was our main workhorse for a while, until we decided an upgrade was in order. It's fun to use, but definitely finicky and, like all machines, temperamental as all get-out. That thing has more mood swings than a teenager when you start talking about her crush... If you know, you know.

Upgrade Time

In May 2024, after weeks of research and being on the edge about what to get, we decided to purchase the then flagship: the Bambu Lab X1 Carbon. We got an AMS with it to be able to print up to 4 colors at once, since we were tired of having to paint the models by hand (and since neither one of us are very "artistic" in that way, they usually came out just OK, not stunning like we envisioned). As anyone who can only print single color knows, you either print each part separately in the desired color (unloading and switching spools between each color) then gluing the model together, or print-in-place in a neutral color and paint by hand afterward. The X1C was a MAJOR upgrade. We retired the S1 after 3 solid years of faithful but frustrating service in July 2025. It now belongs to her brother, and is still running beautifully, albeit crankily, in its new home.

Today

In July 2025, after several requests, we decided that another AMS was in order. We now have the ability to print in up to 8 colors simultaneously. We had never been happier with our setup, and it worked beautifully for us. Then we find out that our brother-in-law has a veritable print farm in his back room, with 7 printers, all at our disposal, provided we supply materials. Now we're talking! And that bring us to today, and why we're here.
